The Evaluation Meeting On The Achievements Of "Breeding And Promotion Of Silkworm Varieties Resistant To Blood Type Pyosis" Was Held In Zhenjiang, Jiangsu

On April 8, 2023, the Chinese Silkworm Society organized relevant experts in Zhenjiang to evaluate the scientific and technical achievements of the Breeding, Promotion and Application of "Huakang" Series of Anti blood type Pysis Silkworm Cultivars declared by Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Sericulture Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Southwest University and Jiangsu Sericulture Institute.

The meeting evaluation and consultation expert group was composed of Professor Dai Fangyin, Chairman of the Chinese Silkworm Society, Professor Chen Guohong of Yangzhou University, Researcher Liao Sentai of Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Chen Guoqiang of the National Engineering Laboratory of Modern Silk (Suzhou), Researcher Wang Yongqiang of the Sericulture and Tea Research Institute of Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences Seven experts, including Zhou Chengwei, a researcher of Jiangsu Sericulture Society, and Li Bing, a professor of Suzhou University, served as the group leader. The meeting was hosted by Tan Anjiang, Dean of College of Biotechnology, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology/Director of Sericulture Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Zhou Honggen, Executive Vice President of the Science and Technology Research Institute of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, and Tang Sheng, Director of the Natural Science Department were invited to attend the meeting.

According to the evaluation requirements, researcher Xu Anying from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology and Sericulture Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences reported on the project's research and development background, technical scheme, research and development content and innovation points, the role of promoting industry progress, the economic and social benefits of the results, and the equivalence of similar technologies at home and abroad. Against the background that the sericulture industry is in urgent need of developing new silkworm varieties that are resistant to sepsis, high-yield and high-quality to meet the industrial demand, the project has cultivated the "Huakang" series of blood type sepsis resistant silkworm varieties, and has carried out large-scale promotion and application, promoting the progress of the industry. This achievement is also a highlight project of the national sericulture industry technology system during the 12th Five Year Plan period. In 2015, 2017 and 2018, it was promoted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs as a "breakthrough achievement" and a "landmark achievement" respectively.

After listening to the report of the project team and reviewing the relevant materials, the evaluation expert group conducted inquiry, defense and discussion on the innovation, technical route and economic benefits of the results. The review expert group believes that the data provided by the project team is complete and standard, meeting the evaluation requirements, and unanimously believes that this scientific and technological achievement is highly innovative, widely applied, and has huge economic and social benefits, ranking the international leading level.
