With the wedding season in full swing, Vera Wang's wedding dress is still the first choice on many brides' wish lists. Wang Weiwei recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. For many years, she has been innovating in the field of wedding dress design - using color and knitting techniques, and even throwing the fabric into the washing machine.

Wang Weiwei Said that her latest wedding dress series focuses on construction. She said, "I think I really confused the bride's concept of perfection for a period of time. A skirt has six kinds of fabrics. I want to go back to the original things, but in a new way, this way is clothing Architecture - not simplicity - is minimalism. "

The reporter interviewed her in the studio of this famous designer, and talked about some of the wedding dresses and red carpet dresses that she remembered most, her business in China and her views on "Tiger Mother".

The following is an excerpt of the edited interview:

What method do you use to design red carpet clothes for people?

Wang Weiwei: I'm more like a stylist on the red carpet -- just like Edith Head -- the clothes must reflect the star's temperament. It depends on their appearance, their personality, body type and what they want to show that night. Therefore, the process of making red carpet clothes is much more specific than that of making ready to wear clothes.

Which red carpet costumes are asked most?

Michelle Williams was asked the most. And Charlize Theron's orange brooch inspired by the 1930s style longuette She can definitely make movies in that dress. At that time, she had just finished filming The Legend of Bagger Vance, a film about a golfer in the 1930s. She wanted to keep her role for Oscar, so she made a rather retro hairstyle. That's definitely one of the red carpet costumes I've been asked most about.

Of course, Sharon Stone, who just finished filming Basic Instinct, wore a tight evening dress of gold silk and hard satin, with a big train and no jewelry. Only golden skin, golden hair and shining golden dress. That was my first Oscar moment. All the elements are combined to create this incredible outfit. All these factors together really need some luck and predestination. I have designed red carpet clothes for many excellent actresses: Julia Louis Dreyfus, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lopez - too many.

What about Wang Weiwei's wedding dress?

Chelsea Clinton, of course, not only because of her origin and family, but also their extraordinary position in the history of American politics. The great thing about Chelsea is that she is eager to take a more fashionable and unexpected route. I think she is very good. The most important thing is how she sees herself. The wedding on such a gorgeous occasion is really a family event, so not only the wedding should be authentic, but also her dress should be authentic. I am not coaching Chelsea, we are working together. To show youth and romance, the complicated technical details from the perspective of fashion should also be acceptable.

Alicia Keys also got married on the same day, but six hours earlier than Chelsea. At noon, I looked at my watch and said, "I guess Alicia is now getting married in southern France.". She is barefoot and pregnant. She frankly accepted that she was pregnant and wanted a Greek wedding dress, which looked like the Earth Goddess. So: two very different brides, two very different continents, two very different lifestyles, but I think they all feel that they have shown their true selves on their most important days. Even at celebrity weddings, I feel like a dresser.

How is the business developing in Asia?

As the first generation of Chinese growing up in the United States, the development in Asia is of great significance, especially since my parents have passed away. I am proud of my past and my roots. It means a lot to me. You can't fail to understand this in a Chinese family, nor can you grow up in an American family. If your parents are Chinese, you will understand. They won't let you forget.

But I have to be honest, since my father's business is all in Asia, I knew that there were business opportunities in Asia more than ten years ago.

But there are also emotional factors. I think the Chinese people all over the world - and the wider range of Asians - have become independent. Not only the standards of the United States and commercial success, financial strength and other elements have made China independent, but also South Korea and Japan have been independent for decades - Asians have been re accepted. I am glad to live to see this, because it is really meaningful to me. Similarly, there are many young Asian designers emerging in the fashion industry. Nothing makes me feel more proud than this. As a possible pioneer, my roots are deeply rooted in Asia - much deeper than pure money or business. Perhaps the most important thing is my soul, as well as my heart. I have always liked fashion, and because I like it, I work in the fashion industry. Not because I want to be famous, nor because I want to be famous. Unfortunately, in this era, if people don't know you, no matter how good your product is, they will never find it.

To be sure, I am lucky that I have received that kind of respect. But for me, the most important thing is my love of fashion and design. There are many other people who have made great achievements in this industry that deserve my respect - some are Asians: Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake. I don't want to list the names one by one. I really respect them.

Since we talked about Asian and Chinese parents, what does the topic of "Tiger Mother" mean to you?

My daughter won't say that about me, that's for sure. I would say that about my mother. I am a "tiger cub" - an elderly "tiger cub".

Your two daughters are both in Ivy League schools, so are they successful for other reasons?

Actually, I didn't make any contribution. To be fair, when they were in the fourth grade, we were told not to interfere with them, and we never did. They are being themselves. I don't use the word "success". I would say that no matter what, they are all doing themselves.
