In June 26th, a seminar on emerging industries opportunities and business decision-making innovation was held in Beijing, sponsored by the international cooperation center of the national development and Reform Commission.

Li Rongcan, director of the Policy Research Office of the Ministry of Commerce, said China

foreign trade

The international market space has been very limited. In recent years of reform and opening up, we have become the world's largest exporter of textile, clothing, shoes, clocks, bicycles, sewing machines and toys.

In the US market, China's shoes account for 76% of the total imports of the United States, furniture accounts for 53%, and clothing accounts for 49%. In the first five months of this year, China's mobile phone has accounted for 50% of the total US market. In the European market, China's luggage has accounted for 70% of imports. In the Japanese market, China's textile and apparel has accounted for 78.6% of imports.

Li Rongcan: after such dazzling figures, we should be soberly aware of what problems exist in our own economic development mode, especially the development mode of foreign trade. What kind of contradictions should we have at present? In retrospect of the past thirty years of reform and opening up, the course we have gone through is actually an East Asian development model, that is, the export oriented mode, which promotes economic growth through exports, and many of our policies and resources are tilted towards the trade sector.

With such a development model going to the present stage, it is necessary for us to make some summaries.

I feel that at least there are some problems or outstanding contradictions.

Li Rongcan: first, the international market space has been very limited. Why do we say so? In the past few years of reform and opening up, we have become the world's largest exporter of textile, clothing, shoes, clocks, bicycles, sewing machines, toys and other labor-intensive industries.

In recent years, mobile phones, color TV sets, DVD, electric fans, refrigerators, motorcycles, air conditioners, containers and other exports have also risen to the top of the world.

With so many commodities, we have made full use of our competitive advantage (310368, fund), and we already have a place in fact. This is certainly a good thing, but to some extent, it also squeezes the market space of other countries, especially developed countries.

It can be seen that our trade frictions are very numerous. The 116 trade remedy surveys we implemented last year, including countervailing measures and anti-dumping measures, accounted for 43% of the world's total. The amount involved was 102% higher than that of the previous year. On the one hand, we occupied many international markets and caused many new contradictions.
